Company Profile
Minas Industry is a UK-based company that manufacturers Minas pão de queijo using local cheese producers and cassava flour. The company was born from passion for quality and great flavours.
Passionate about cooking, Romulo Lívio de Medeiros decided to fund the company after his home made Minas pão de queijo conquered all his friends in England. Living and working in the UK, Lívio used to cook dinner for his British friends. Very often, after tasting the special pão de queijo, his friends would ask him to prepare the snack for them in a canapé size to be served at parties and dinners.
In 2006, he decided to get into business and started to sell home made pão de queijo in farmers markets in Reigate, Surrey. At the first market, he produced 70 units and they sold out in a few hours. The success did not stop there. From Reigate, the company has expanded considerably in the past few years and nowadays, Minas pão de queijo can be found in different farmers markets and retail shops around London (see 'Where to find Minas pão de queijo' for further information).
The Recipe
In Brazil, Minas pão de queijo is very popular as a breakfast and as a snack that can be eaten at any time of the day. To achieve the best flavour, the company developed a partnership with nutritionist Vânia Magda Madeira. After 3 years of research, Lívio found the perfect balance among the ingredients to produce distinctive pão de queijo that has soft dough on the inside and a crunch crust on the outside.
The best of all is that Lívio developed a recipe that does not only taste delicious, but it is also healthier. Minas pão de queijo is naturally gluten and wheat-free. Can it get any better?!
